HOF3173- Franz-Michael Deimling Bassacaglia

$25.00

Written for the Young Bass Academy Michaelstein, the premiere took place in March 2024. The parts are designed so that beginners can play and perform on stage with advanced double bassists.
In addition to the double bass III with the passacaglia theme, the fifth double bass plays “noises like sawing an F-hole”.

While these two voices play the passacaglia theme, there is a very emotional conversation between voices I and II. The first double bass starts its theme, the second takes it over, commenting just as emotionally on the first.
From bar 41, the passacaglia theme becomes more prominent in the third voice, initially accompanied by striking interjections from the first and second double bass, which are continued in a new, pointedly demanding melody. In the final sequence, the first two voices join in with the passacaglia theme and bring it to a common conclusion.

The fourth voice is deliberately kept simple to enable even beginners to participate in this piece.

The voices can be sung individually or in choir.
