Valentini (Bransby) GRAVE & ALLEGRO

Description

This particular version of this early 18th century composition was inspired by the great cellist Paul Tortellier, who used to play only the first two movements of Valentini’s cello sonata as a quick encore. The Grave is a beautifully lyrical movement, while the Allegro is a very exciting fast movement, with lots of broken chords, plus an added original cadenza guaranteed to please the audience. Play both movements as a recital opener, or just the Allegro as an encore. A great showcase for fast spiccato. Comes complete with two piano parts, for orchestral and solo tuning. (about 6 ½ min.)
