Description
“Sonata for Double Bass & Harp” was written in 1993 by Dave Anderson. Mvt. 1 = Allegro Moderato; Mvt. 2 = Elegy; Mvt. 3 = Rondo. This is a work for a unique pair of instruments. The composer writes: “This was written in honor and dedication to my wife, Catherine, a wonderful harpist. I have always loved the color of the harp and bass combination definitely influenced by Ginastera’s Variations Concertante and the Harp Concerto. There are some pedal glisses and alternative articulations. The 2nd movement is an Elegy dedicated in memory of a dear bassist friend, Arti Smith.”
