Description

The “Concerto a 4 Violini Senza Basso del Sigr. Melante” (a pseudonym formed from the letters of his name), TWV 40:202, was composed by Telemann around 1730. It has four movements in the manner of an Italian church concert. After the short introductory movement, the four voices in the fast movements are treated equally and in part canonically. The musical material was not changed except for the transposition. All strokes and dynamic markings are not included in the original and should be understood as a performance suggestion.A sonorous piece for all double bass quartets.
