Description

Oscar Geier received his musical education at the Conservatory in Sondershausen and at the Hochschule für Musik in Dresden. From 1913 he was a member of the Dresden Staatskapelle for over 40 years. In addition to his practical music activities, he particularly enjoyed composing. He composed primarily solo and chamber music for the viola.

But Geier also considered the double bass in his compositional work. The concerto in E major op. 11, presented here in the piano reduction, is still an integral part of the repertoire of double bass players and is known as a compulsory piece in various competitions.
