Description
The title of the present work refers to the childhood of Parzival – main character of Wolfram von Eschenbachs verse novel of the same name from the 13th century. After having heard about the death of her beloved Gahmuret, Parzival´s mother Herzeloide moved with Parzival to the solitary grange Soltane, which was isolated from the world by high mountains and deep forests. There they lived without riches like plain peasants with only a few farmhands. Parzival had a sheltered childhood. Even the name and ancestry he was told very late and shortly before the first visit to the court of Arthur.
The idea, to grow up innocently and unknowingly in a paradise-like surrounding was fascinating and inspired to write the present composition. There is no connection at all to the epic of Parzival or to Wagner´s opera.
