Description
Frederick Delius was born in England in 1862 and died in France in 1934. Both he and his wife are buried in England.
In 1884, Frederick’s father allowed him to try his hand at cultivating oranges in Florida on a plantation just south of Jacksonville on the St. Johns River.
This Sonata was composed in 1916 and first performed in 1918 by English cellist Beatrice Harrison to whom it was dedicated.
