Typically, the double bass provides the harmonic foundation and rhythm for dance music. Here, however, dance pieces for fiddle and jazz solos are presented with the bass taking the lead role. Numerous traditional fiddle dance tunes—such as jigs and hornpipes from Scotland, England, and the USA—alongside three newly composed jazz solos, bring the bass to the forefront. This volume is designed for use in double bass lessons, serving both as a performance and accompaniment resource. It is equally suitable for concert programs and traditional pub sessions. The range extends up to the seventh position. There is still a scarcity of chamber music for the double bass, and existing works are often too difficult for students. This collection offers an alternative. Most pieces include chord symbols, making it easy to arrange accompaniment for guitar, piano, or a full band.
